History of the Tamworth Cycle Club

Founded in 1952 by a small band of intrepid local cyclists, Tamworth Cycle Club now enjoys a strong membership of riders of all ages and ability. Cycle racing in the Tamworth district however goes back to the late 1800s when races were held on rough dirt tracks on bikes designed for anything else than racing on today's standards. The Cycle Club caters for not only the keen racers but also those cyclists who want to simply enjoy rides with the occasional fast finish to the end. While not yet enjoying the luxury of its own Club facilities, the Tamworth Cycle Club does enjoy the ownership of a modern velodrome.

Meetings are held at the Tamworth League Club each first Wednesday on a monthly basis except December and January and the Club contacts are easily located here.
