Training around Tamworth
THE TAMWORTH CYCLE CLUB DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CONDUCT OF BUNCH TRAINING RIDES. THE RIDES PROMOTED BELOW ARE OPEN TO ALL CYCLISTS AND CLUB MEMBERSHIP IS NOT NECESSARY. ALL RIDERS PARTICIPATE AT THEIR OWN RISK. THESE RIDES ARE NOT RACES AND ALL COMPETITIVE ASPECTS OF THE RIDES SHOULD BE AVOIDED. BUNCH RIDES ARE DESIGNED TO PROMOTE CYCLING AS A SPORT SUITABLE FOR RIDERS OF ALL AGES AND LEVELS.
Regular bunch rides are conducted to suit both the elite, the not so elite and of course the huffers and puffers. All bunch rides leave the Tamworth Information Centre at the Eastern end of Peel Street at 6.15 am on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. These three rides are generally moderate to hard but nobody gets left behind. There is also a slower bunch that leaves from the information cerntre at 6 am on Saturdays.
In addition, each Wednesday morning commencing at 6.00am at Dux Motors on Calala Lane, which is South of the city off the New England Highway, there is an "every man for himself" ride, very hard and fast and if you get dropped, it's a case of "see ya later alligator!" A more polite atmosphere prevails should any rider suffer a mishap, flat tyre etc.
During the winter months, there is a small group of cyclists that leaves Dux Motors on Calala Lane on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 4:30pm.
