14/04/2009Publicity officer gets to talk himself up 14/04/2009 9:33:00 AM WAYNE Toomey won overall as the Tamworth Cycling Club staged a mini tour around a new course on New Winton Road on Saturday. The TCC publicity officer was second to John Saunders in the 6km A/B Grade time trial, won the 15km scratch race and won the 30km handicap to take overall honours from Saunders with Owen Lindsay third. “It was a different course for everyone,” Toomey said. “A staircase course stepping down and then back up as it got progressively harder and harder. There was always a cross wind as well.” Mal Ellicott won the C/D grade mini tour after wins in the time trial and scratch race. The club moves back to Loomberah for a handicap race this Saturday while the regular skills coaching for juniors continues at the AELEC this afternoon. Young riders from age five and up are welcome to attend the coaching clinics, helping the youngsters ride with their restricted gears. The skills coaching starts at 4pm.
