Results 14th of March 2010
On sunday we had the club criterium championships at Goddards Lane. We were dissapointed with numbers as they were down on the last few weeks as there were a few away with triathlons and a few sore legs and bodies from the Westpac Mountain bike race in Guyra.
A Grade
1st: Sam Spokes
2nd:Darren Trail
3rd: Wayne Toomey
One of the slower races of the year with attacks that were chased and shut down quickly. No one was willing to really keep the pace going so when Sam got away off the front of the peleton it allowed him to take advantage of everyones napping and lap the filed by himself. This set the minor placings up for a sprint finish with Wayne Toomey showing his old age is getting to him, riding on the outside of sams wheel round the final corner making it near impossible to get past. Darren Trail was the real dark horse of the race after being elevated from C grade in only the last few weeks he showed his form is well and truly back with a big sprint finish to beat home the rest of the field for second.
C Grade
1st: Peter Nash
2nd: Ian Woodhouse
3rd: Darren Taylor
These three guys have been consistent performers through the whole summer and its fiting that they won these places. The three guys worked together during the race to keep the pace on and nullify any attacks. It came to a sprint finish with Peter Nash showing us all that coffe rides really are enough training to win a club championship.
Juniors
1st: Sara Spokes
2nd: Emily Nicholls
3rd: Lewis Chapman
The kids race was again great to see our new recruit Lewis competing so well. He is training hard and its really showing. Emily Nicholls is a really strong bike rider who in the next few months will show us how strong she really is i think. Sara is also riding very well with some really good results in the c grade races at the club criteriums in previous weeks. It all came down to a sprint finish with Sara Just holding off Emily from a flashing home Lewis Chapman.
Also we have a lot of guys going up to the Armidale crit on Sunday. This also coincides with the Nias trials which Tamworth club has 7 members vying for a position so we wish them luck.
