Founded in 1952 by a small band of intrepid local cyclists, Tamworth Cycle Club now enjoys a strong membership of riders of all ages and ability.
Cycle racing in the Tamworth district however goes back to the late 1800s when races were held on rough dirt tracks on bikes designed for anything else than racing on today's standards.
The Cycle Club caters for not only the keen racers but also those cyclists who want to simply enjoy rides with the occasional fast finish to the end. If you are looking at getting into the sport, we have a number of experienced cyclists within our club that can offer advice and assistance with everything from bike selection and setup, technique and training.
While not yet enjoying the luxury of its own Club facilities, the Tamworth Cycle Club does enjoy the ownership of a modern velodrome and conducts racing activities on both road and track most weekends of the year. We also host the annual Nemingha to Nundle, Gunnedah to Tamworth and Tamworth Junior Tour races. Find us on Facebook
